When we see the spirit as conquering, mighty and victorious, we get trapped in expectations of military power, we push our violent tendencies onto the spirit, and excuse our acts of domination with religious references. Rather, the spirit’s power is not coercive and forceful, but invitational: inviting us to abundant lives, inviting us to co-create a better world. Hopefully, we can accept the invitation.
Performance: A big happy, swingy singing festival. After a time or two, folks will be able to sing this without it printed on paper. Add your own verses. What new reality is the spirit inviting your community into? Sing that.
