I wrote this as an Advent, waiting song. Waiting for the transformation, the greening, the compassionating of this world. Waiting for the changes we long for, the changes we pray for and which we must participate in.
It’s easy to teach and lead this tune with no-paper. Get the group going own their part, then the cantor can sneak in.
*The 4th line of the group part could change with each verse, to echo the cantor line for that verse, or can remain “come and lift the people” throughout. e.g. verse two group part could be “Stir up your power, stir up your power, stir up your power, Ancient Light of Justice.” Depends on how you want to teach the song.
