In the months before the bookstore St. Martin’s Table closed, they put out a public journal, where patrons could write in comments, memories, and good wishes. I paged through it on one of the last days, hoping to glean some gems to use for a little song. The best line, from Brigid McDonald, led me to this song.

(four part song, or round)
I.
If I rob a bank and somehow get away
And give all the money to you
Will you keep St. Martin’s Table open for me
If I rob a bank for you?
II.
Good food Good books
Good people Goodbye
Good food Good books
Good people Goodbye
III.
Peace be with you all
Peace be with you all
As we leave this place of peace
Peace be with you all
IV.
Oh, the conversation partners we found
At the little tables we sat around.
Oh, the conversation partners we found
At the little tables we sat around.
